The first half of 2019
It is wisdom that gives meaning to everything – in Potsdam’s St. John’s Lodge “Zum Widder”
We are always exploring new avenues of dialog for our “work”. In essence, it is about a journey inwards for each individual, each to themselves and a journey outwards, to the brothers and into the world: e.g. on January 12, 2019 at a great New Year’s reception in the Order House in Berlin, where many interested people, neighbors, friends and family members found access to us – and we to them.
The New Year’s reception of our “Johannisloge zum Widder in Potsdam” was a real highlight, which we were able to experience together with around 240 people: the entrance began at 10:00 a.m. and the Prussian Grenadier Guard No. 6 from 1740, the bodyguard of Frederick II, performed in historical uniforms. After a welcome drink in the fireside lounge and initial discussions with old acquaintances and new guests, the reception began at 11:00 a.m. in the Garden Hall: accompanied by the singers of the Sonari Choir Berlin and the Police Choir from Berlin, our Chairman Meister hosted the program with a few surprises.
At the end, all 50 choir singers took to the stage once again. Many members of the audience sang along to the European anthem and the national song. There was a real sense of solidarity and a strong feeling of community. After several encores, everyone left with the song “oh happy day” in their ears and best wishes for a “happy new year” for a New Year’s snack in the Preußenzimmer.
The good mood continued here with new encounters and the strengthening of old relationships. Some had traveled over several hundred kilometers – and everyone had the feeling that it was really worth it.
There was also a sense of pride that we were all part of it!
We would like to take this opportunity to once again say THANK YOU to all the helpers who actively lent a hand in the background with the preparation and organization, as well as with setting up and dismantling.
